The film we are talking about is Kyon Ki. Released in 2005, the film stars several well-known faces like Kareena Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Om Puri, Suniel Shetty, Rimi Sen and Manoj Joshi. The film failed to leave its mark at the box office. With a budget of Rs 20 crore, the film could only record a worldwide box office collection of Rs 22.49 crore.
The film is reportedly the Hindi remake of the 1986 Malayalam film Thalavattam. Director Priyadarshan directed both the Malayalam film and the Hindi film. Though the Malayalam version registered significant success in the theatres the Hindi version received negative reviews from critics and the film failed at the box office. Kyon Ki just recorded an all-India box office collection of Rs 17.04 crore. Sunil Manchanda, and Mukesh Talreja produced the film while the music was composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The songs used in the film were sung by famous singers like Kunal Ganjawala, Kailash Kher, Udit Narayan, Shaan and Alka Yagnik.
After the film, Kyon Ki failed to attract the audience’s attention at the theatres, director Priyadarshan’s other film Garam Masala which was released at a similar time became a blockbuster hit recording a box office collection of over Rs 50 crore.
Kyon Ki was reportedly the first film to cast Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan together. Later, the duo worked together in blockbuster hit films like Bodyguard and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Salman Khan is reportedly busy with his next, titled Sikandar which will be released next year.
