After the British Board of Film Classification on Thursday cleared the conflict-ridden Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film for a scheduled release on December 1, filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari said no one would want to stop the movie if “the rules and regulations are followed”. BBFC has certified the film as 12A and categorized it as a "feature" in "drama" genre and has said that there's "moderate violence, injury detail" in the film.
Ashwiny, the director of films like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi, said she is certain that the Deepika Padukone-starrer will get its due credit.
“Everyone has their own rules and regulations and we cannot say who is wrong and right. Our country has certain rules and regulations which we need to follow and UK govt has certain rules and regulations which its people are following so there’s no debate about it. A film has a certain process and I’m very sure that a film like Padmavati will do get its due credit no matter whatever said and done. Because the country is and will support movies it’s not like we won’t. I would support that movie and if everything is fallen in place and the rules and regulations are followed it’s going to pass. Who would want to stop it? I’m purely talking in terms of Censor and all,” Ashwiny told News18.com on the sidelines of the 48th International film festival of India.
Meanwhile, sources close to filmmakers reveal that there's no plan to release the film as of now- not in UK, not in India. "If we decide to release, we will let you know. There's no plan of releasing the film in UK," said the sources.
