Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 4: Nag Ashwin directed Kalki 2898 AD has set the box office on fire. Released on June 27, Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles. As per reports, Kalki 2898 AD has surpassed Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office.

As per Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD earned an approximate of Rs 85 Cr India on Sunday. This has resulted in the film earning Rs 302 crore in its opening weekend in India. Telugu screenings contributed the most to the total Kalki 2898 AD box office collection so far.

The Telugu version recorded a collection of Rs 162.1 Cr, Tamil version collected Rs 18.3 Cr, Hindi recorded a collection of Rs 110.5 Cr, Malayalam version collected Rs 9.7 Cr and Kannada version recorded Rs 1.8 Cr collection by the end of the opening weekend. The report also claimed that the film is likely to cross Rs 500 cr worldwide. The final box office collections are awaited.

Kalki 2898 AD created history at the box office by becoming the third biggest opener in Indian cinema as it earned massive Rs 191 crore globally on its opening day. With this huge day 1 collection, Kalki 2898 AD has surpassed the global opening records of KGF 2 (Rs 159 crore), Salaar (Rs 158 crore), Leo (Rs 142.75 crore), Sahoo (Rs 130 crore) and Jawan (Rs 129 crore). RRR still remains the highest Indian opener with Rs 223 crore collections, followed by Baahubali 2 which grossed over Rs 217 crore on its opening day.

The Telugu film, which has been released in four other languages, heavily draws inspiration from Mahabharat. The film is set in a dystopian future and revolves around four people — a pregnant woman named Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who is said to be carrying a child that is the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who has been tasked to protect the unborn child; a ruthless villain named Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will be the end of the baddie; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who would sell anyone in return of money.
