Kannada Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been sent to 6-day police custody. He was arrested earlier today by the Bengaluru police in Mysuru in connection to the Renuka Swamy murder case. As reported by The Times of India, Darshan was questioned by the police officials on Tuesday afternoon following which he has been sent to 6-day police custody.
What Is Renuka Swamy Murder Case?
Renuka was found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He used to reportedly work at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. It is said that a wooden log was used to fatally injure him. The perpetrators intended to dispose of the body in the Vrushabhavati valley, but it was discovered stuck and being tampered with by dogs.
According to police officials, Renuka used to send vulgar messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowad, a friend of Darshan. Angry about this, Renuka Swamy was murdered and his dead body was allegedly thrown in a canal at Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru in front of Darshan. Reportedly, eight of the accused have implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during Renuka Swamy’s assault.
Why Is Pavithra Gowda Also Arrested In Murder Case?
Darshan’s close friend and actress Pavithra Gowda has also been arrested in the case. Police officials are investigating if she has anything to do with Renuka Swamy’s murder. Pavithra is often linked to Darshan. In January this year, she left everyone shocked when she shared a video on social media in which she hinted at their relationship. “One decade down; forever to go.♥️♥️ #10year It’s been 10 years of our relationship. Thank you ✨✨,” she wrote.
Evidence Against Darshan Caught On Camera?
On Tuesday afternoon, Karnataka police also released a video in which Darshan’s car was allegedly seen near the place where Renuka’s dead body was disposed of. The video showed a car which allegedly belonged to Darshan. However, it remains unclear if the actor was inside the car at that time or not.
Darshan’s Fans Come Out In His Support
Meanwhile, Darshan Thoogudeepa’s fans gathered outside a police station in Bengaluru to extend their support to the actor. In a video that surfaced on social media, hundreds of Darshan’s fans were seen standing outside the police station as they also chanted slogans in support of the actor.
