At the launch of Soha Ali Khan's book, The Perils of Being Moderately Famous in December, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan heaped praises on her sister-in-law saying she's the family's torchbearer and someone they all turn for advice. To this, Soha, who is also charmed by Kareena in equal measures, says it's generous of Kareena to have made those comments and only a secure person could have said all that.
"I think she was being very generous in saying that. I don't think that she's in awe of anyone and I think she is so secure and so comfortable in her own skin that she can afford to be generous like that," she says in an exclusive interaction with News18.com.
Soha, who has recently added another feather in her cap by penning a book, also sheds light on her relationship with Kareena and how it's evolved over the years. "We have become closer, also because we've shared so many experiences together. My getting married soon after she got married, my having a child soon after she had a child. These are things that do bring you closer together because you lean on each other for support and for advice and for help. She has really been so helpful through that."
She shares how Kareena keeps telling her that ever since she saw Soha with her father, when he was in hospital, she had newfound respect for her. "But I feel like ever since I've known her, to know someone who is such a big star and yet so grounded and so real as a person at home. Someone who manages their personal and professional life with so much aplomb, I think that's why I have so much respect for her," she adds.
Soha, who is also a mother to little Inaaya, feels motherhood has treated her "very well and very badly" at the same time and calls it one of the most challenging things she's ever done. "There's no report card really at the end of the day that you get which marks you out of 10. So, you don't really know how you're doing, you're constantly second-guessing yourself and you want the best for your child."
"I think most of the pressure comes from the pressure that we put on ourselves as mothers but every time Inaaya smiles, my world lights up! It's wonderful and it's a miracle. When Kunal and I both look at her, we think 'Wow! we created that," she signs off.
