Manoj Bajpayee, during a recent interview, praised Rishabh Shetty's Kantara, talking about the importance of original stories.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is gearing up for the release of his movie Bhaiyya Ji this month. In an interview with Pinkvilla, he mentioned enjoying recent films like Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor and RRR with Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. He also praised Kantara, talking about the importance of original stories. When asked about recent films he liked during a Pinkvilla Masterclass, Manoj simply said he liked a lot of films.

Talking about Kantara, he said, “Mujhe Kantara bahut acchi lagi. Kantara mujhe uss karan se bhi achhi lagi ki wahan ke ritual, wahan ka jo faith, aur waha se jo hai ek badiya mainstream film banayi. Kantara mere liye reference point hai” (I really liked Kantara. I liked Kantara because of its rituals, faith, and how it became a good mainstream film from there. It is a reference point for me).

Manoj also praised SS Rajamouli’s historical fiction film RRR, mentioning, “Mujhe RRR bhi acchi lagi thi mainstream films mein” (I also liked RRR in mainstream films).”

When it comes to Bollywood films, Manoj liked Yami Gautam’s Article 370 and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. He said, “Idhar jo film dekhi maine, jaise Article 370 dekhi maine ya fir Animal dekhi. Acchi films hai, matlab entertaining hain” (The films I watched here, like Article 370 or Animal, are good films, meaning they are entertaining).

Only recently, he discussed his initial experiences in Mumbai, talking about the challenges he faced despite his background as a theatre actor in Delhi. Manoj also recalled a particularly tough day in his journey when he encountered three rejections. Looking back on his early experiences, he shared, “Delhi was different because I was working every day, and was very busy. But I had no work here and that was frustrating. I was completely down and out. My money was getting over and it was not coming regularly. I was not doing theatre here, so I invented some exercises, and that became a routine.”

Manoj’s most recent appearance was in Silence 2, and he has already started filming for The Family Man 3. That apart, his upcoming movie, BhaiyyaJi, is set to be released on May 24, 2024.
