Mukesh Khanna is best known for playing Shaktimaan on Indian television. When it was reported that the show was being made into a film, headlined by Ranveer Singh, Mukesh expressed his disapproval of the casting. Even after Ranveer personally tried to convince the actor, Mukesh didn’t budge. He recently revealed that his aversion towards Ranveer began after the actor’s nude photoshoot.
Speaking to Bollywood Thikana, Mukesh said, “Now people know that Ranveer Singh came to convince me to allow him to reprise the role of Shaktiman. I can’t hide it also because later people said that I lauded Ranveer and called him a terrific actor. News of Ranveer being confirmed to play Shaktiman started coming but I hadn’t agreed to it.”
He added, “I also have a conflict with Sony and I had put up a video clarifying that I haven’t approved Ranveer to play the role and the reason is that…Ranveer sat in front of me that day for 3 hours but ultimately I had to tell him that what needed to be seen on his face wasn’t there. He looks playful, like someone who would trick others.”
Mukesh Khanna mentioned that his aversion towards Ranveer started when the actor posed nude for a photoshoot. Mukesh slammed both Ranveer and his actress wife Deepika Padukone. He said, “That photo shoot was the start of my aversion towards him. However, Ranveer told me he didn’t actually do it. He said he was wearing underwear and had fired his promotional team.”
He added, “I believed him, but later when I looked back, I remembered his statement to the media, where he said he was comfortable with it. I recall giving a statement, ‘You may be comfortable, but we aren’t.’” His wife was also comfortable, according to a statement they gave to the media. She also didn’t object. Every wife would object. Don’t be so advanced.”
Ranveer Singh posed nude for Paper Magazine back in 2022. In one of the images, the actor was captured lying naked on a carpet. His pose resembled that of a photoshoot done by the famous 1970s American actor Burt Reynolds. The Mumbai Police booked Ranveer under Indian Penal Code Section 292, 293, 509, and the IT Act. He was charged with hurting the sentiments of women.
