Mysuru Film Festival Concludes With Kirkkan And The Secret Of Women Taking Top Honours
Mysuru International Film Festival (MyIFF) is held in Mysuru and celebrates world cinema by showcasing diverse features, short films, documentaries and music videos as well.

The Mysuru International Film Festival (MyIFF), held in Mysuru, recently concluded its latest edition, shining a spotlight on the vibrant world of cinema. The festival serves as a crucial platform for celebrating global cinema, showcasing diverse features, short films, documentaries, and music videos. MyIFF is renowned for introducing new voices and films from across the globe, providing a stage for emerging talents, and connecting them with a wider audience.

The film Kirkkan, directed by Josh and produced by Mampra Cinemas and Owl Media Entertainments, claimed top honours at the festival. Dr. Mathew Mampra, the producer, received an award for the movie, which features an ensemble cast including Salim Kumar, Vijayaraghavan, Kani Kusruti, and Johny Antony. Dr Mampra had previously been honoured with the Swedish Award for the film Cheraathukal.

Prajesh Sen’s The Secret of Women earned him the title of Best Director at the festival. The film garnered acclaim for its contemporary portrayal of women’s lives, providing a thoughtful commentary on the present-day experiences of women. MyIFF screened around 300 movies from India and various foreign countries, offering a diverse cinematic experience to its audience.

The closing ceremony of the festival took place at the Maharaja College of Mysuru’s Centenary Hall, where former President of the Karnataka Film Producers Association, BMA Hareesh, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony witnessed the participation of prominent figures from the Kannada and Telugu film industries.

MyIFF, inaugurated by the Bengaluru-based NGO Filmaholic Foundation, aims to support budding artists in the fields of entertainment and art. The festival strives to showcase high-quality content and ambitious films from around the world while promoting and supporting independent filmmakers. MyIFF has established a partnership with the esteemed Canadian OTT platform, Global Cinema Online.

The festival’s purpose extends beyond mere entertainment, offering an enriching experience for the audience to explore new content presented in innovative ways. MyIFF predominantly features independent films, and the audience is encouraged to respect these works of art, fostering an environment that appreciates creativity and cinematic expression.
