Indian Idol is arguably the biggest singing reality TV show in the country, which gave some of the most recognized vocalists globally. One of these singers includes Rahul Vaidya, now considered a popular name in singing. Like anyone with fame and success, it was not easy for Rahul to be where he was. A video has resurfaced online, showing the singer receiving criticism from the judges of the show.
Rahul Vaidya appeared in the first season of Indian Idol, where he emerged as the second runner-up. However, during one of the initial auditions of the show, the singer was grilled by the judges for being too “overconfident.” The now-viral video is amassing a lot of attention from the netizens.
The clip was shared by the account @tellycoverage. In the video, Rahul is seen performing his rendition of Pretty Woman from Kal Ho Na Ho. The table of judges, comprising of Sonu Nigam, Anu Malik and Farah Khan, look on at the young singer with unimpressed expressions. When Rahul finishes his performance, Sonu Nigam tells him, “Aap har performance ke sath badh se battar hote jaa rahe hain (You are getting worse from worse with every performance).” Then Anu Malik opines, “You have a lot of overconfidence in yourself. In your eyes, your face, your attitude, like no one exists but me.”
The post is captioned, “Rahul Vaidya audition video in Indian Idol, where judges are upset with his performance.” Netizens react to the clip, many agreeing with the judges’ opinions. The first user wrote, “Overconfident is the right word.” A second user stated, “I don’t mean to hurt anyone but yes he carries the same attitude today as well.” While a third shared, “This is real judgment.” And a fourth netizen commented, “Sahi kaha judges ne (The judges were right).” The video has gained more than 147,000 likes and has amassed over 7.7 million views on the platform so far.
