Palak Sindhwani, best known for her stint as Sonu Bhide in popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has been hogging the limelight lately since she accused the show’s producers of exploitation and mental harassment. This unexpected move came after the show’s makers planned to issue a legal notice to her for breaching the contract by endorsing third-party brands. This controversy escalated, sparking a heated dispute between her and Neela Film Productions. But now, the actress has dismissed all allegations and revealed details of her discussions with the show’s makers. In an exclusive conversation with an entertainment media outlet, Palak broke silence about her health issues and disclosed her decision to quit television.
Speaking with Pinkvilla, Palak Sindhwani revealed that she had been considering quitting the sitcom for some time and wanted to quit the show last year due to health issues. Elaborating further, she said, “I always had a thought in my mind that I would do TV for three years, and then I’d take a break. At times, TV becomes very hectic because you are shooting for 27 days or 20 days and you are always on your toes.”
Palak also spoke about her health problems, stating that she has had certain medical issues. Her doctor urged her to reduce her stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle in which she gets enough sleep and does light work. But at the show, anything might happen at any time.
Furthermore, the actress recalled her first conversation with the production team when she decided to quit the show. She said, “I was planning to quit the show. In December 2023, for the first time, I told their production head that I wanted to quit. After hearing this, he said, ‘No, not now. Now another co-actor is leaving.’”
She also stated that she never argued with anyone on the set or threw tantrums, but the way the producers have lately been treating her was unbearable and disrespectful. She went on to say that the producers want her to stay until May 2025, and that because she refused, she was being mistreated. “Honestly, I don’t want to do TV. Mera mann uthh gaya hai. 5 saal ek show ko dene ke baad aisa sab hua hai toh abhi muje TV nahi karna hai. (I don’t feel like doing TV now. After giving 5 years to TV, this has happened, so now I don’t want to do TV),” Palak concluded.
Palak also mentioned that her family is supportive of her decision to take a break and that they have asked her to focus on herself. Meanwhile, Palak Sindhwani’s team earlier issued a statement claiming that Neela Film Productions had not paid her more than Rs 21 lakh. They further stated that despite the unpaid amount, the production team expected her to work.
