Tamil film Vettaiyan, headlined by the Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, has been dominating the headlines for quite some time now. The popularity level of this film can be gauged by the fact that it has surpassed Thalapathy Vijay’s film The Greatest of All Time, in terms of ticket bookings on Bookmyshow.com. With barely a day left for the film’s release (October 10), Rajinikanth’s followers are hurriedly booking the tickets. The ticket bookings for Vettaiyan have increased by 54 percent over the tickets booked for that of GOAT, as per reports. So far, more than 1.40 lakh tickets of Vettaiyan have been sold on the Book My Show site. According to reports, the ticket sales for Vettaiyan are more than The GOAT, Indian 2 and Raayan.
There are some other reports as well that have piqued the interest of the Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan. As per the latest reports, the Tamil cinema stalwart has been paid an estimated Rs 100-125 crore for his role in the film. As per a news portal, the remunerations of the other artists in the star cast are as follows. The report mentions that Amitabh Bachchan has received Rs 7 crore for his role and Fahadh Faasil has been paid Rs 2-4 crore. Rana Daggubati has raked in Rs 5 crore, and actress Manju Warrier received Rs 85 lakh. Another actress Ritika Singh has been paid Rs 25 lakh for her work. Actors Dushara Vijayan, Rao Ramesh, Rohini and others also comprise Vettaiyan’s ensemble star cast. Backed by Lyca Productions, this film is an action crime drama.
Sun TV uploaded a prevue of this film on September 20, 2024, which gives an insight into the film’s plot. The prevue shows how Amitabh Bachchan’s character officer Sathyadev hates the encounter specialists. Rajinikanth’s character is shown to be an encounter specialist, who was transferred for his action against the anti-social elements. Their characters are shown to be at loggerheads due to conflicting ideals. The film’s glimpse also introduces the other characters. Vettaiyan’s prevue has received 11 million views and counting.
