Two of the most celebrated names in the South film industry, Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan, are teaming up for an exciting new project, Kaantha. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, this film is set against the backdrop of 1950s Madras (now Chennai). In a grand start to their highly anticipated collaboration, Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media and Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films held a puja ceremony in Hyderabad to mark the official launch of their multi-project venture. The production houses shared glimpses from the ceremony, showcasing the cast and crew in attendance.
The caption for the shared pictures read: “Introducing #KAANTHA, an epic collaboration between Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan. Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films bring you a story that merges artistic storytelling with innovative filmmaking. We are thrilled to embark on this journey. Kaantha also features Bhagyashri Borse and Samuthirakani. During the puja ceremony, the cast and crew, along with visitors, were dressed traditional attire. Rana Daggubati’s uncle, actor Venkatesh Daggubati, led the ceremonial clap, with his wife Miheeka Bajaj and father Suresh Babu also in attendance. Prominent producers and Venky Atluri, director of Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar, also attended the ceremony.
Fans are buzzing with excitement for this star-studded collaboration. One fan offered their best wishes, saying, “All the very best,” while many others expressed their eagerness, saying, “Waiting for this.”
According to a press note shared by the film’s team, Rana Daggubati said, “Kaantha is the ideal film to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Suresh Productions and mark the new beginning with Spirit Media.”
Dulquer Salmaan also expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting the film’s compelling narrative. He described it as a brilliantly layered story that delves into the depths of human emotions, offering ample opportunity for creative exploration.
Kaantha delves into the complexities of human interactions and societal transformation during a key period in history. The first look of the film is expected to be released soon. The film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Apart from Kaantha, Rana Daggubati is set to star in TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, alongside Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil. Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in Lucky Baskhar and Aakasam Lo Oka Tara. Bhagyashri Borse is preparing for her role in Vijay Deverakonda’s yet-untitled film.
