Gone are the days when Hindi TV shows used to continue for years and sometimes even decades. Now-a-days, a show has a run of maximum two-three years before going off-air. If it is very popular among the viewers, the makers might come up with season 2.
Some credit of the change also goes to the lockdown period, when the shootings were halted and audience returned to old shows. Many shows broke its own record during this period. Some makers also grabbed this opportunity to re-launch their shows with new stories.
Interestingly, the seasons are becoming as popular among the viewers as the originals. Thereby, making it a new trend in the TV industry.
We have listed a few shows that got re-launched with a new season:
Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2: The new season of the 2010 show was launched last year, a few days after the ‘Rasode Mein Kaun Tha’ rap went viral. The rap song was created by music artist Yashraj Mukhate and was shared online. The original actors Mohammed Nazim, Rupal Patel and Devoleena Bhattcharjee were seen in the first few episodes of season 2.
Ishq Mein Marjawaan 2: Season 1 had two female and one male lead — Nia Sharma, Aalisha Panwar and Arjun Bijlani. It ended in June, 2019. The new season was launched with two male and one female actors, in a similar thrill ride. The show featured Vishal Vashishtha, Rrahul Sudhir and Helly Shah.
Pratigya 2: This decade-old show also launched its new season this month. Original actors Pooja Gor as Pratigya, Arhaan Behll as Krishna and Anupam Shyam as Thakur Sajjan Singh are seen reprising their roles. Pratigya has become a lawyer in season 2.
Unlike drama shows, fantasy shows have short stories and more seasons.
Brahmarakshas 2: The second season is headlined by actors Pearl V Puri and Nikki. The show was first launched in the year 2016 and then it returned with season 2 last year in November.
Aladdin-Naam Toh Suna Hoga (3) : Every season of the show lasts for over a year. In all the seasons, the show had its original lead pair – Sidharth Nigam as Aladdin and Ashi Singh as Yasmine. However, earlier the role of Yasmine was played by Avneet Kaur. The show recently concluded its third season.
Naagin 5: Like Aladdin, Naagin also launches a new season with most popular TV faces every few months. The franchise is now five seasons old. The recent one had actors Surbhi Chandna, Sharad Malhotra and Mohit Sehgal in the lead roles.
