Shahid Kapoor is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. It is an ‘impossible love story’ in which a man falls in love with a robot. During a recent promotional event for his film, Shahid opened up about technology in today’s time when he also highlighted an increase in viral deepfake videos. Shahid accused human beings for the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and argued that we are not presenting the reality on social media.
“Human beings are themselves the problem. They have done this to the world. We are pushing the blame on AI. We are used to not living in reality. We keep projecting something else on social media that is not a reality and keep comparing reality with what we see on social media and then leads one into depression. That is the truth… we are looking for an alternate reality. That is what AI is and it is something as fundamental as a relationship. There is a difference between man-made and God created. This is there in this film (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya), shown in a subtle way,” Shahid told India Today.
The actor was also joined by his Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya co-star Kriti Sanon who also called deepfake videos concerning and added, “There are several morphed ones that came out. But there are also AI-generated news anchors which means that we are moving forward really fast. So, an AI partner is possible in coming years.”
Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s comments come months after a morphed video of Rashmika Mandanna went viral on social media. In the clip, the woman with Rashmika’s face was seen getting into a lift, wearing a fitted outfit. However, it was soon clarified that the viral clip was deepfake. Later, an FIR was filed in connection to the incident and the man responsible for creating the deepfake video of the actress was arrested in January 2024.
