Shopper Teaser Out: IU’s New Single Features DPR Ian As Narrator

South Korean singer IU has teased fans with her upcoming music video Shopper. The song is one of the two title tracks from her yet-to-release sixth mini-album The Winning. The other track is Holssi. The music video teaser has garnered special attention from the masses especially because it features artist DPR Ian as the narrator. The collaboration between the two K-pop stars has sparked intrigue among the audience. IU’s mini-album will be released on February 20, with Shopper being the first song to be presented to eager fans. IU dropped Shopper’s teaser on her social media handles on February 13.

The preview opens with the view of an ordinary supermarket. DPR Ian’s voice in the background can be heard narrating, “There once was a shop. And it wasn’t just any shop," adding intrigue. He goes on to explain that it was an “extraordinary" shop filled with extraordinary items. The singer makes a brief appearance in the music video before the scene changes to IU who can be seen walking along the corridors of the supermarket. Flashbacks show the shop DPR Ian was talking about was a mystical one that housed certain fantastical elements. In the closing few seconds of the video, IU picks up a candy from the floor with the word “Shopper" emblazoned on it. She winks at the camera before the song’s release date is displayed on the screen.

IU and DPR Ian fans reacted to Shopper’s music video showing their excitement towards the upcoming marvel. One user claimed that the “vibe feels very magical, uplifting, empowering, and inspirational". Another quipped, “Can’t wait. So close to release." Lauding the cryptic music video, a third individual pointed out, “Of course, it’s gonna be cinematic! Of course, it’s gonna look so out of this world! It’s DPR IAN."

IU has been treating fans with back-to-back music releases. Earlier, she collaborated with boyband BTS member V for the song Love Wins All. Released on January 24, although V did not lend his voice to the number, he featured in the music video. The song captured IU and V as two star-crossed lovers who fight for survival in a dystopian world.
