Sonakshi Sinha and her longtime beau Zaheer Iqbal recently celebrated one of the most enchanting yet understated weddings Bollywood has seen in recent years. The couple exchanged vows on June 23. In a recent interview, they shared insights on their whirlwind wedding planning, which they managed to complete in just 25 days, and reminisced about their first meeting, crediting Salman Khan for bringing them together.
In an interview with Bombay Times, Zaheer Iqbal revealed, “The first time we met was at Salman bhai’s (Salman Khan) house.” Despite both attending Salman’s numerous birthday celebrations, whether at his Panvel farmhouse or his Galaxy apartment in Mumbai, since 2013, their “paths never crossed.”
Zaheer humorously admitted, “I didn’t know she was there, and she didn’t know that I existed!” He went on to discuss the serendipitous way the universe eventually brought them together.
Recalling their first encounter, Zaheer shared that it happened one evening at Galaxy, where he and his friends, along with Salman and his friends, were casually “chilling.” It was during this relaxed gathering that Zaheer and Sonakshi first interacted. However, their love story didn’t begin there.
Zaheer recounted, “The first time we really spent a lot of time with each other was on June 23, 2017, at the after-party of Salman Khan’s Tubelight premiere.” They ended up spending five hours engrossed in conversation. As the night wore on, they realized that everyone else had left, and they were the only two remaining in the room. Reflecting on that moment, Zaheer said, “We knew that day there was something special here.”

In a recent interview, the newlywed revealed how her actor-turned-politician father reacted when he got to know about her relationship with Zaheer. She mentioned that even though she was nervous, Shatrughan was “chilled out” and “supportive”.
