Sanya Malhotra found it hard to hold back her tears as her film Mrs received a standing ovation at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. In a video, the actress shared a glimpse of how well the film was received by the audience. People gave a thunderous round of applause for the film and her performance as the end credits rolled by. Sanya mentioned that she was grateful that the hard work of the team had paid off and is eager for the film to hit Indian theatres. Replying to the post, Tahira Kashyap, Abhimanyu Dasani, and Triptii Dimri dropped red hearts.
Accompanying the video, Sanya wrote, “I want to thank all of you for the incredible response and the standing ovation we received for “Mrs” last night at @iffmelbourne . Your support means the world to us…This film is a labor of love, and we’re thrilled it resonated with you. Eagerly waiting for the film to release in India now.” Sanya’s fans also wished her for this new milestone and praised her efforts in the industry.

Mrs is a remake of the famous Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen. The Aarti Kadav directorial also featured Kanwaljit Singh and Nishant Dahiya. Sanya plays Richa, a young girl who begins her marriage journey with high hopes and aspirations but is soon lost to a world of domesticity.
Sanya Malhotra has also won Best Actress for her portrayal in Mrs at the New York Indian Film Festival 2024.
Meanwhile, Sanya Malhotra’s upcoming projects include Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, and Thug Life by Mani Ratnam. She is also parrt of director Anurag Kashyap’s untitled film.
