Anurag Kashyap, who made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya, is a major player in the industry. On The Kapil Sharma Show celebrating 10 years of Gangs of Wasseypur, Kapil Sharma shared a funny tale from director Anubhav Sinha. Anurag recalled a time when Manoj Bajpayee, feeling quite emotional, chased him with a stone outside Gulzar’s home. It was all in good fun, thanks to ‘chef’ Hansal Mehta, who often invited them to try his dishes.
“Hum log waise hi bhukhe the. Toh hum log tasting ke liye pahuch jaate the. Wahan koi ek baat hui jahan pe ye [Manoj] emotional ho gaye (We were always hungry. So we would go for the tasting. There was a conversation where he [Manoj] got emotional),” Kashyap said.
“Inko laga Gulzar Sahab ke saamne maine Manoj ki bezzati kardi toh patthar uthake bhaage the aur main aage-aage bhaag raha tha aur Hansal rok raha tha. Uske baad hum dono bethke roadside pe roye aur [gale mile]. (Manoj felt that I insulted him in front of Gulzar Sahab and the actor picked up a stone and ran after me. I was running ahead and Hansal was trying to stop us. After that, we both cried by the roadside and hugged each other),” he added.
Anurag Kashyap has worked with Manoj Bajpayee on films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya, and Shool. Anurag Kashyap is widely recognised as one of the foremost directors in the Hindi film industry, known for his unique style of filmmaking. He directed the Gangs of Wasseypur series, co-wrote the screenplay for Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya, and wrote dialogues for Eeshwar Nivas’ Shool. This year, Anurag also appeared as an actor in the Tamil mystery film Maharaja, alongside Vijay Sethupathi. Most recently, Kashyap appeared as the villain Kazbe in the Disney+ Hotstar series Bad Cop.
