Mumbai, the city of dreams, is the place where people from all over the world come to try their luck. The majority of the youth that come to this city dream of becoming an actor and earning immense fame. A few get instant popularity; while for others, it takes many years of hard work to make their mark in the industry. One such actor is Sanjay Mishra, who is an exceptional talent and has starred in many popular hits. Sanjay Mishra is a renowned actor and a prominent face in the Hindi film industry. He has also worked in South films. Sanjay Mishra was even awarded with Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his exceptional performances in the movies Ankhon Dekhi and Vadh. His journey towards stardom was not easy at all. He faced many challenges in his lifetime. When he was in school, Sanjay Mishra failed his class tenth examination twice, but his passion for acting remained undeterred. In 1991, he decided to move to Mumbai to become an actor. There were times when he used to spend his days eating only Vada Pav and slept at the railway station at nights.

In his illustrative career, he has won several other awards and accolades for his stellar acting chops. He is an alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD) and made his debut in the industry with Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!, in 1995, where he played a small role of a harmonium player. Before he became a successful actor, Sanjay Mishra used to star in advertisements and short films. He got his first break in the advertising world opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the Mirinda cold drink ad. He later starred in other movies like Rajkumar in 1996 and Satya in 1998, which earned him much recognition. By 1999, he tried to seek knowledge in various departments of the film industry like art direction, lighting, and camera work.

Sanjay Mishra was roped in as Apple Singh, an icon used by ESPN Star Sports during the 1999 Cricket World Cup. He became quite famous at that time; but after the death of his father, he left Bollywood and shifted to Rishikesh. Later, reportedly, he went to Rishikesh and started working at a Dhaba. “That time was different. I had no complaints about the industry. I had complaints about my life. My father had passed away at the time, and even I was battling an illness. Doctors had removed 15 litres of pus from my stomach and just after it got cured, I lost my father. I had started losing my life. So, I went to Rishikesh and started making omelettes at a dhaba near the bank of Ganga. The dhaba owner told me I will have to wash 50 cups a day and I will get Rs 150. But then I thought I needed money for my survival,” Sanjay Mishra said in an old interview. After a day, people recognised him for his acting stints. Later, it was Rohit Shetty who called him and gave him a chance to act in the film, All The Best: Fun Begins. That’s when he came back to Mumbai and then, there was no looking back for him.
