Tamil sports family drama Lubber Pandhu written and directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu released at the cinemas on September 20, 2024. The film has received appreciation from the audience and the critics with many calling it a well-made sports drama. Apart from brilliant direction, writing and acting, what made Lubber Pandhu dominate the headlines is numerous references to the late actor Vijayakanth.
The Lubber Pandhu director talked about this aspect at a press conference regarding the film. Recently, the film’s crew organised a press conference for Lubber Pandhu after it collected Rs 3.5 crore at the box office in 3 days. The Lubber Pandhu director said that he wanted to pay homage to the late actor in his debut film. Due to this reason, the director added that he included many references for Vijayakanth spoken by the actor Dinesh. Dinesh’s character has shown to be a devoted fan of the late actor. Apart from Dinesh, Devadarshini Chetan, Geetha Kailasam, Harish Kalyan and others have also played key roles in this film.
Lubber Pandhu is the filmmaker Tamizharasan’s debut film. Before this film, he has proved his skills as the first assistant director for the film FIR. He has also penned the Nenjuku Needhi’s dialogues.
In addition to these aspects, many viewers were also eager to watch the actor Harish Kalyan’s acting prowess in Lubber Pandhu. In an interview with The Hindu, Kalyan talked about why he accepted this film. He said “The predominant reasons I accepted the film was because it’s set against a sports backdrop and I’ve not played many village-based characters. The fact that both of them came together in one script excited me. More than the play-off between two players, there are more emotional conflicts between all the major characters.”
Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has appreciated Harish Kalyan’s acting prowess in a recent tweet. In this tweet, the cricketer wrote that he has enjoyed a movie after years. He added that it’s a lesson on how authentic films can be made. Calling the film real, Ashwin mentioned that it is not like the other Tamil films based on cricket that deviate from the core.
Ok this is about a movie : Movie making is a serious business and it involves so much hard work and creativity, hence I largely look at the positives in any movie and speak very little about the negatives.
But, today I can’t resist but mention that I enjoyed a movie after…
