At the 64th National Film Awards, Dangal actress Zaira Wasim was honoured with the Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of young Geeta Phogat in Nitesh Tiwari's directorial Dangal.
She expressed her heartfelt gratitude and thanked Aamir Khan and filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari for their support.
"I am extremely happy. I would like to thank the jury for conferring on me this honour. My heartfelt gratitude to my family for believing in me and to Aamir Sir and Nitish Sir for supporting me", she said.
The young actress from Kashmir further said that this victory has only motivated her to work harder.
"It is very encouraging to receive an award of this stature in my debut film, the appreciation has only got me more excited to work harder".
Based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita, the film has been received well by the audience and critics alike.
