Ranbir Kapoor is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Animal. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film explores the father-son dynamic between Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor’s characters. Ranbir Kapoor’s character has a seemingly unhealthy obsession with his father’s approval. Fans cannot wait to watch how this storyline unfolds in the film. Now, the makers have released the film’s third song, Papa Meri Jaan, on Tuesday, November 14.
Penned by Raj Shekhar and sung by Sonu Nigam, the new song explores the father-son relationship “carved in blood". The song showcases the hold that Anil Kapoor’s character has on Ranbir Kapoor’s character. In the song, Anil Kapoor comes across as an absentee father and yet, Ranbir Kapoor idolises him since childhood. The song also features Rashmika Mandanna extending her love and support to Ranbir.
The song follows Ranbir’s journey from childhood to adulthood, seeking his father’s validation. To attain this goal, he even ventures onto a twisted path and things take a ‘bloody’ turn. The song shows Ranbir’s journey from an innocent child to a ‘dark’ adult.
Completely enthralled by the song, fans flooded the comments section with their love and appreciation. One person wrote, “When Sonu Nigam puts his soul into a song, a legacy of the song extends beyond from generation to generation❤." Another added, “Awaiting the plethora of emotions coming our way with Sonu Nigam’s soul-stirring voice❤."
One fan commented, “This is going to be an all-time blockbuster movie. The songs are really excellent in this movie. Arijit, Sonu Nigam just legendary voices here." Another added, “Papa meri Jaan Goosebumps ❤❤." Another person wrote, “Sonu Nigam is just legendary."
Besides Ranbir and Anil, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol in key roles. While Rashmika plays Ranbir’s love interest in the film, Bobby is seemingly the film’s antagonist. Two songs of the film, Hua Main and Satranga, are already out. Both received immense love from the audience upon their release.
The film marks Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s second project in Bollywood after Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh. Animal was originally slated to release in August this year. However, due to incomplete post-production work, the film was then postponed. The film will clash at the box office with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur on December 1.
