The budget of Joker 2 aka Joker: Folie à Deux has been revealed and it seems that Warner Bros has not shied away from allocating massive funds of the Todd Phillips directorial. After the massive success of Joker, a new report has revealed that the production house has allocated a budget that is more than thrice the amount spent on the first Joker film. To top it off, the report also revealed Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix’s mammoth pay they are receiving for Joker: Folie à Deux.
If a report by Variety is to be believed, Warner Bros has allocated a budget of $200 million for Joker 2. The amount comes as a big surprise as Joker (2019) was reportedly made on a budget of $60 million. The 2019 release emerged as one of the highest grossing movies of the year, earning over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Five years later, Joaquin Phoenix is set to return as Joker and this time with Lady Gaga by his side.
The leading pair has already caused a massive buzz among fans. While fans are eager to see them work their magic on the big screen, the Variety report has revealed that both the stars have charged big bucks for their appearance in the film. While Joaquin is returning as Joker, Lady Gaga will be seen playing the role of Harley Quinn. It is reported that Lady Gaga has charged a whopping $12 million for her performance in the film. On the other hand, Joaquin is getting a whopping $20 million for his performance as Joker in Joker: Folie à Deux.
Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix are yet to react to these claims.
Joker 2 aka Joker: Folie à Deux is said to be a musical. In an exclusive chat with News18, Joker 2’s music director Sam Slater teased Joker: Folie à Deux. The musician has confirmed he is a part of the Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga starrer and revealed that his work on Joker 2 is mostly done. “That’s done, I think. I think I can say that, yeah it is done,” he said.
Given that Joker 2 has a musical name associated to it in the form of Lady Gaga, we asked him if Gaga is involved in the musical process or even sang a song or two in the movie, Sam said, “You will just have to wait and see. But they’ve done a great job, they’ve done a really good job, that’s all I can say.”
