Kevin Feige Plans To Reboot MCU With Avengers: Secret Wars? Find Out
Kevin Feige reportedly hinted at a soft reboot of the MCU with Secret Wars, which means, the studio will be able to revive characters like Iron Man or Captain America.

Loki Season 2 is generating excitement among Marvel fans and setting the stage for the ultimate showdown, Avengers: The Secret Wars, scheduled for release on May 7, 2027. This movie will bring the Multiverse Saga to a close, which commenced in 2021. However, it won’t mark the conclusion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as the studio has grander plans. In a recent update, Joanna Robinson, co-author of the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, revealed that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige hinted at a soft reboot of the MCU with Secret Wars. In essence, the studio might have the ability to resurrect characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, or Black Widow, whom fans believed to be gone.

Joanna in The Watch Podcast shared, “We have a quote from Kevin Feige sort of implying that, like, Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot in which they can prune everything… That’s not to use a Loki-ism. They’ll prune everything that’s not working and just keep what is [working], or bring back people you thought were gone forever.”

Anticipation for the upcoming MCU films has been stoked by intriguing insights shared by Joanna Robinson in her book, MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios. In the final chapter, How Much We Have Left, a paragraph recounts the authors’ meeting with Kevin Feige. During this meeting, the Marvel chief unveiled a 1988 poster created by Ed Hannigan and Joe Rubinstein, featuring a multitude of Marvel characters. This poster provides clues about the numerous new characters that might find their way into the MCU.

As per Screen Rant, the paragraph reads, “As the MCU spilled over into streaming programs and the Multiverse Saga, Feige had to learn different lessons from the comics: how superheroes periodically needed to be rebooted, how to stop variants and spinoffs from spiraling out of control, how an annual mega-crossover event could unify a disparate line of characters.”

Meanwhile, the rumours suggesting that Avengers: Secret Wars will mark the conclusion of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline and the entire history before Iron Man isn’t new. Previous reports had hinted that the Secret Wars would be a soft reboot. As per reports, Kevin was inspired by the All New, All Different Marvel era for the upcoming phase of the MCU.

Most recently, Kevin Feige decided to replace the entire writing and directing team for the Daredevil: Born Again reboot series, starring Charlie Cox. Reportedly, Feige had viewed the completed episodes of the show and was disappointed with the final outcome.
