Fourteen years after the brutal 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, the country mourns the loss of the victims of terror. Top leaders today paid their tributes to those who lost their lives and remembered the sacrifices made by some to save lives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes for those who lost their lives. “Today, I remember those who lost lives in 26/11 attack,” PM Modi said at an event marking the Constitution Day adding that “When India was celebrating the joy of its Constitution, biggest terror attack took place.”

President Droupadi Murmu paid her tributes to the victims of terror. “On the anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the nation remembers with gratitude all those we lost. We share the enduring pain of their loved ones and families. Nation pays homage to the security personnel who fought valiantly and made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty,” the President tweeted.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted calling for justice. “Terrorism threatens humanity. Today, on 26/11, the world joins India in remembering its victims. Those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice,” Jaishankar tweeted.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted in Hindi, “I pay my heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and remember and salute our brave security personnel who made the supreme sacrifice fighting the terrorists. Today gives a message to the whole world to fight unitedly against terrorism.”
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “On the anniversary of the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai, I salute the memory of all those who lost their lives in this incident. My heartfelt tributes to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives while fighting this attack. This country has not forgotten the incident of 26/11, nor will it ever forget.”
The horrific series of terror attack in Mumbai on 26.11.2008 cannot be forgotten.All perpetrators of this crime should face the law and be punished.

The US Embassy in India tweeted to honor the ‘memory of those we have lost, and the courage displayed by Mumbaikars.’

Israel Ambassador to India, Naor Gilon said, “We’re commemorating 14 yrs of horrendous terror attacks in Mumbai. Israel is with India, both countries are victims of terror. We’ve to unite together. We appreciate India convened 2 int’l conferences on combating terror & its financing.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “On the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, I pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in this attack. Tribute to the sacrifice of all those martyred security personnel who bravely protected the country. This day gives a message to the whole world to fight against terrorism.”
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the 26/11 terror attack was “a wound that will never heal,” and his government was committed to ensure that such an incident never takes place again. There were intelligence inputs but the then government could not act on it to prevent the attack, said the BJP leader who is also the state’s home minister.

26/11 is marked as a dark day in India’s history as a series of terrorist attacks, lasting four days, hit Mumbai in November 2008. Saturday marks 14 years to the day 12 coordinated shootings and bombings took place in iconic locations across the city, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident and Taj Palace and Tower among others.
India has said its efforts to sanction perpetrators and facilitators of 26/11 had been blocked in the past for “political reasons” that enabled them to organise further cross-border assaults against the country, an apparent reference to China’s repeated moves to block New Delhi’s efforts to blacklist Pakistan-based terrorists at the UN.
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, said terrorism continued to pose a “grave threat” to international peace and security, as ISIS and al-Qaeda affiliated and inspired groups, particularly in Asia and Africa, continue to operate and target civilians and security forces.
