Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, who was initially known for his chocolate boy image, underwent a remarkable transformation in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. While he received acclaim for his exceptional performance in the film, But the film also gave prominence to Nagir Fakhri, who made her debut as the female lead. As Rockstar completed 12 years on Saturday, Nargis Fakhri wrote a note.
On Saturday, Nargis Fakhri took to her Instagram handle and shared a bunch of stills from Rockstar. The actress also penned a note, in which she pondered on the fleeting nature of time. She wrote in the caption, “12 years of Rockstar. Pretty crazy how time flies, but this film & everyone who worked on it will forever be in my heart. Heer will always be a part of me and so is the memories of Jordan. Once in a life Time ! Thank you @imtiazaliofficial & #ranbirkapoor.”
Fans rushed to the comment section to express their appreciation for the film. One of them wrote, “This movie will forever be special ❤️.” Another one commented, “11.11.11……..Eternal date …can never forget….changed the dynamics of love in cinema.” Someone else said, “Most touching movie .” A fan stated, “One of my favorite film ever Rockstar ❤️.”
For the unversed, Rockstar was shot in reverse to keep up with Ranbir’s hairstyle. Hence, the climax featuring long hair was filmed first. He practised playing the guitar at AR Rahman’s studio in Chennai, studied Kurt Cobain’s biography and familiarised himself with Jats for the film’s intense character.
Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, the film was released in 2011. And this year, it completes 12 years of its release on November 11. The film starred Nargis Fakhri as the female lead alongside Ranbir. Rockstar was a success with a budget of Rs 50 crore and global earnings of Rs 110 crore. It ranked among the highest-grossing films of the year. Notably, Rockstar made history by starting the shooting process in reverse, becoming the first Bollywood film to shoot the climax before other scenes.
This film also marked Nargis Fakhri’s acting debut. The on-screen chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri awestruck the audience, and the film’s songs gained immense popularity. The film resonated with a young urban audience featuring narrating musical drama.
Rockstar won multiple awards, including recognition for Kapoor and Rahman. Additionally, it marked the last film of Bollywood icon Shammi Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor is best known for Barfi, Sanju, Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Soon, the actor is going to star in films including Animal, Stardom, Ramayana and an untitled project with Anurag Basu. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal stars Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna in leading roles. Produced by T-Series and Cine1 Studios, it is set to release on December 1.
