Phoebe Litchfield's Ton Powers Australia to Their Best-ever ODI Score Against India
The 20-year-old brought up her century as she made 119 runs off just 125 deliveries to help the Aussie women surpass their previous best score of 332 runs against the India.

The Australian women’s team put on a show against India at the fabled Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday as they registered a massive total of 338 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the third ODI between the sides.

The total helped the Aussie women surpass their previous best score of 332 runs against the Indian women at Vadodara in 2018.

This was the third time the Australian women’s side had breached the 300-run mark against India in the subcontinent after they initially reached the landmark back in the year 2012, also at the Wankhede.

Vadodara and Mumbai have been happy batting tracks for the Australian women as all five of their top scores against India have come in the two cities.

Australia had also posted high totals of 287 for the loss of nine wickets against the women in blue back in the year 2018 in Vadodara, while added to their burgeoning tally in India with a 285 run finish at the Wankhede in 2023 as well.

Australia won the toss and opted to have a bat first as opener Phoebe Litchfield led from the front with her incredible ton.

The 20-year-old brought up her century as she made 119 runs off just 125 deliveries in an innings that included 16 fours and a six.

The youngster was provided ample support at the other end by the experienced Alyssa Healy as the skipper added 82 runs off her willow in the mammoth effort. Healy’s innings included 4 fours and 3 sixers before she fell prey to Pooja Vastrakar.

But the Australian openers had established an opening partnership of 189 runs to get the visitors off to a brilliant start.

Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana Kings all chipped in with contributions of their own as the women in yellow put up a total of 338 runs to rewrite the record books.

Chasing the huge total, the Indian women got off to a rough start as they lost three top-order batters cheaply.

Openers Yasthika Bhatia and Smriti Mandhana were dismissed for 6 runs and 29 runs respectively by Australian bowler Meghan Schutt, while skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was also sent back to the hut for a paltry score of 3 runs by Georgia Wareham.
