Thalapathy Vijay enjoys a separate fandom, which is not just restricted to the South-speaking regions. Apart from being a talented actor, he has also earned a name for his umpteen philanthropic activities. He runs a charity foundation named Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, helping those in need. On December 30, the Leo star visited the flood-affected districts of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin. In a welfare event arranged by his charity foundation, Vijay distributed relief funds to the people. Amidst this, Vijay encountered a strange situation where one of his fans was so starstruck upon meeting him in real life that they refused to accept the relief materials and just wanted to take a selfie with him.
A video of the incident was shared on Instagram on December 30. “If a photo with you is enough,” read the caption. The video captures Thalapathy Vijay handing out relief funds to the disaster-affected people at a place. Soon, two women and a child approach the actor. Assuming that they have come to take the materials, he tries to give them a relief fund box. However, the women shock the star when they refuse to take the items and instead request him for a selfie. Vijay, being the gentleman that he is, obliges to the request with a smile. After clicking the picture when the women leave, the actor sports a stunned expression, presumably amazed that they said no to the relief products and came to the place just to take a photo with him.

Another video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) shows a similar situation. A woman wearing a mask was seen clicking a picture with Thalapathy Vijay. After the click, Vijay gestures towards the relief products, urging her to take them. However, the woman rejects the items too, indicating that she was also present at the relief fund event to get a photograph with his favourite star.
