The pre-wedding festivities of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani and industrialist Viren Merchant’s daughter Radhika Merchant are all set to take place in Gujarat’s Jamnagar from March 1-3. Goes without saying, it will be a star-studded affair with performances by several top celebrities.
Famous international artists including Rihanna and magician David Blaine are set to perform at the pre-wedding festivities. Top Indian musicians who’ll perform include Arijit Singh, Ajay-Atul and Diljit Dosanjh.
Even as these performances make headlines, one cannot forget Radhika’s solo on-stage performance from 2022 that created a big buzz and left guests in awe. In June 2022, the who’s who of the country had gathered for the ‘arangetram’ or ‘ascent to the stage’ of Radhika Merchant, who is an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer. The Merchant and Ambani families had turned out in full strength as did their friends from the worlds of public service, business and the arts to support and encourage the first on-stage solo performance by Radhika. While the crème de la crème of the country attended the big event, in all the glitz and glamour, the star that really shone bright was Radhika Merchant herself with her graceful performance. This was the time of success for her and her guru Ms Bhavana Thakar, who trained Radhika in Bharatnatyam for over 8 years to be ready today for her Arangetram – her first solo stage performance – which also marked the entry of a new artist into the rarefied world of an ancient art form and the continuance of the age-old tradition of the art and the guru-shishya parampara.
Anant and Radhika are all set for their pre-wedding ceremonies which will take place in Gujarat’s Jamnagar from March 1-3. it will be a star-studded affair with performances by many top celebrities. Popular Indian actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth will be gracing the celebration with their respective families. Salman Khan will also be travelling to Jamnagar for the pre-wedding festivities. Akshay Kumar will also be attending the pre-wedding celebrations with his wife, Twinkle Khanna.
All guests will fly to Jamnagar from Mumbai or Delhi between 8 am and 1 pm on March 1. Each of the three nights will have a theme. Day 1 is “An Evening in Everland” with an “Elegant cocktail” dress code. Day 2, “A Walk on the Wildside,” suggests “jungle fever” attire. It will be held outdoors at the Ambanis’ animal rescue center in Jamnagar, so comfortable shoes and clothes have been recommended.
Invitees will then swap their safari-themed outfits for more elegant ones for Mela Rouge. The dress code for this is “dazzling desi romance”, suggesting traditional South Asian attires for all. The final day will host two big events. The first one, Tusker Trails, suggests “casual chic” dress code, as guests are expected to further explore the greens of Jamnagar. The concluding day party, Hashtakshar, calls for an elegant evening with heritage Indian wear.
