With Apple’s new iPhone 15 series available for pre-order now and subsequent availability on September 22—more and more people are considering purchasing new accessories for their expensive devices. However, there’s an important factor to remember when buying cases for the iPhone 15 series—your iPhone 14 series case will not fit the iPhone 15 series.
Despite having the same screen sizes and form factor across comparable models, such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Plus, and the iPhone 15, these newer models are not compatible with cases designed for the iPhone 14 Pro or the standard iPhone 14.
As reported by 9to5Mac, this incompatibility arises from differences in the dimensions between the iPhone 15 series and the iPhone 14 series. It’s essential to note that Apple has slightly curved the edges of the frame this time around—making them more rounded and less sharp compared to the last few iPhone generations.
In addition, other features, such as the new ‘Action button’ on the new iPhone Pro models, is also another contributing factor to the cases being different. So, if you currently own an iPhone 14 series phone and plan to upgrade to an iPhone 15 model, keep in mind that you’ll need to invest in new cases as well.
Notably, Apple has also introduced a new case lineup featuring their innovative ‘FineWoven’ technology. This material replaces leather, helping the company reduce its carbon footprint and achieve carbon neutrality.
In addition to the FineWoven cases, which retail at Rs 5,900 for both the iPhone 15 models and the iPhone 15 Pro models, Apple continues to offer its reliable Silicone cases at Rs 4,900, along with its Clear case, also priced at Rs 4,900. It’s worth noting that all these cases support MagSafe.
