India pacer Jasprit Bumrah had a tremendous outing in the recently concluded World Cup 2023.
The 29-year-old pacer emerged as the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the competition. He capped off his World Cup campaign having scalped 20 wickets from 11 games.
India and Australia recently faced off in a high-voltage World Cup 2023 final on which Travis Head hit a memorable century to fire his team to a record-extending sixth title.
Despite putting up a clinical display in the run up to the title clash, India’s juggernaut was halted by the Aussies in final.
After a gruelling campaign, Bumrah is enjoying a much-deserved break.
Bumrah has shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, wishing his mother a happy birthday.
“Happy birthday to my strength. Everything I am is because of you. Happy birthday mom,” Bumrah wrote along with a picture with his mother.
Bumrah is currently not featuring in India’s T20I series against Australia as he’s been rested alongside other senior stars. He is expected to make his international return during the South Africa tour that starts from December 10.
India will face South Africa in three T20Is, as many ODIs and two Tests during the month-long tour.
Meanwhile, India are currently leading 2-1 in the five-match T20I series against Australia.
Suryakumar Yadav is leading the squad and the hosts took a 2-0 lead before Australia pulled one back thanks to a memorable century from Glenn Maxwell in Guwahati to keep the series alive.
There have been plenty of eye-catching performances from young India players during the series including a century from the bat of Ruturaj Gaikwad who is the first from his team to do so against Australia in a men’s T20I.
Then Rinku Singh has been providing impressive finishing touches that included a two-wicket win in the series opener.
The fourth T20I will be played in Raipur on Friday.
