Legendary English footballer David Beckham arrived in Mumbai as part of his three-day India visit. Beckham arrived in India as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. The International Cricket Council (ICC), in collaboration with UNICEF, is working on an initiative to empower women and girls.

A PTI report stated that Beckham had taken up the role of UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador back in 2005. As per multiple media reports, Beckham is also expected to attend the high-voltage India vs New Zealand World Cup semi-final game today at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of the semi-final fixture, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer was seen trying his hand at a game of cricket. In a now-viral social media picture, the Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami co-owner can be seen batting.

Previously, two legendary cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitharan were part of a short event during the drinks break in the second half of a World Cup fixture between India and Sri Lanka.
Coming back to the semi-finals, hosts India entered the knockouts being the only unbeaten side of the World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led side finished the league stage campaign at the top of the World Cup points table. New Zealand, on the other hand, registered a fourth-place finish to book their semi-final berth.
In the second semi-final of the competition, South Africa and Australia will line up against each other on Thursday, November 16. The second semi-final between the Proteas and the five-time champions Australia will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
