'US, Canada Cannot Help...': SFJ Leader Pannun to PM Modi, India in Fresh Threat
Top intel sources have suggested that the threat is being taken seriously and will be brought up with US, UK and Canada

In a fresh threat to attack the Indian Parliament, Canada-based terror outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the US and Canada cannot help India in protecting its territorial integrity.

Pannun said, “America and Canada cannot help you to protect your territorial integrity because successive Indian regimes have committed genocide of Sikhs.”

The Khalistani terrorist presented the liberation of Punjab from the Indian occupation through Khalistan Referendum to be the ‘only solution’.

“Yes! On December 13, I am going to challenge your territorial integrity. And I am going to announce a response to the assassination attempt that is going to shake the very foundations of your Indian Parliament,” Pannun said.

Reacting to the threats, top intelligence sources have said that this is a regular feature of Pannun, adding that he is issuing threats and warnings to avoid scrutiny.

Sources termed this is to be a serious concern for the country’s security. They said that Pannun is not only issuing threats but also provoking the youth and children of the country who are not aware of the facts, specifically those born after 1984.

We are taking this seriously and we will speak to the US, UK and Canada on this, top intel sources said.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday reacted to Pannun’s threat to attack Parliament and said that India does take threats seriously. “We are caught in a bind here I don’t want to amplify too much credence to search extremists who make threats and get a lot of coverage. We have taken up this matter with the US and Canadian authorities,” Bagchi noted.

The MEA spokesperson also emphasized that terrorists and extremists have a tendency to want media coverage on an issue.

Last month, Pannun had openly threatened to picket an Air India flight Vancouver and Toronto in a video, where he asked Sikhs to not travel by the airline.

Top Indian government sources told News18 that since the threat originated from Canada, it is the Canadian authorities’ responsibility to allow uninterrupted operations of the flight from their land. “Any attack on crew or carrier will be Canadian responsibility and they should assure us in writing,” sources said.

Prior to that the SFJ leader had also warned those flying in an Air India flight on and after November 19 as “their lives might be in danger”.

Sources had then said that Pannun is trying to provoke the youth against India and is threatening to repeat the 1985 bombing of Air India Kanishka flight.

The Air India Boeing 747 flight, named after emperor Kanishka, from Toronto was scheduled to make stops at Montreal’s Mirabel airport, London’s Heathrow, Delhi’s Palam and Bombay’s Sahar on June 23, 1985, exploded mid-air, killing 329 passengers, including 22 members.
