12 BJP leaders face terror threat in UP
The BJP on Sunday said it apprehends terror attacks on some of its leaders during the UP elections campaign.

New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday said it apprehends terror attacks on some of its leaders during the UP elections campaign as ISI-backed outfits have proliferated in Samajwadi Party-ruled Uttar Pradesh.

"During the past three years, several terrorist outfits have spread and strengthened their net in 34 districts in the state," party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

He said intelligence reports suggested that over 12 BJP leaders, including party President Rajnath Singh, party's chief ministerial candidate in UP, Kalyan Singh and Naqvi himself risk terror attacks in the UP elections field.

He said Lashkar-e-Toiba and SIMI have taken strong roots in UP and they could try to strike terror during the UP elections.

Naqvi revealed that the BJP would launch an aggressive poll campaign in UP with its leaders addressing over 200 rallies in almost every Assembly segment in the state.

He said Bollywood stars like Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna would also woo voters for the party.

The election manifesto of the party would be released on Monday in Lucknow, Naqvi said.
