New Delhi: The Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on the 2G scam that was scheduled for Thursday has been postponed. JPC Chairperson PC Chacko said that the next date of the meeting will be finalised after consulting other members. The meeting is likely to take place next week, Chacko said.
This came after the Lok Sabha was adjourned following a request from MPs to mourn the death of Trinamool Lok Sabha MP from Howrah Ambika Banerjee who died earlier on Thursday morning. The Rajya Sabha convened at 11 am but had to be adjourned after an uproar on a host of other issues.
Meanwhile, the Congress is brainstorming to resolve the deadlock. The Congress core group including Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath and PC Chacko met to come up with a strategy.
The BJP, Left Front and the DMK are planning to vote on the JPC report, but the SP remains non-committal saying that it will go against the government if accused A Raja is not allowed to depose.
