There may be some confusion in Tamil Nadu voters as to which party's election advertisement they are watching. This is because it's the same actor -- an old lady -- appearing in election promos of both DMK and AIADMK.
In the AIADMK election promo, actor GT Kasturi plays a role of an old woman promoting Amma canteen. In the advertisement, she was seen as an old woman who claims that even her own children didn't feed her but Puratchi Thailaivi Amma does, referring to Amma canteen.
While in the DMK promo she is seen slamming the Jayalalithaa government saying that the Chief Minister does not understand common man's problems. In the promo, she is seen saying that a Chief Minister who takes the chopper will not understand the common man's problem and that the her governance has to end.
Kasturi claimed she was not aware that she was shooting for election promos. She said she was told the roles were for a short film and an advertisement. She claimed that if she knew that she was acting for election promos she would have refused the roles.
"I have been acting in roles portraying me as a poor person and therefore I acted for Amma Canteen. Had I known it was an election promo, I wouldn't have gone even if they were willing to pay me. One agent said advertisement and the other agent said short film. So I acted in both. Only when I saw it on television, I realised it's an election promo," Kasturi said.
Kasturi has acted in over 300 films over the last 25 years.
