Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala opposition leader and former chief minister VS Achuthanandan said that both the Congress and the BJP work only for the corporate interests in the country. Speaking to CNN-IBN on the debacle of the Communists in the Lok Sabha election he said, "the Congress was working for the corporates for the last 10 years, now the corporates want change that is Modi and team. They have worked in all possible ways and supported Team Modi to get him to Power."
"The attitude towards the people and their problems is the same for both the Congress and the BJP. The major issue that needs to be looked into are what are Narendra Modi's policy on unemployment, price rise, and corruption. I don't think that we can expect much this government; they will be a new form of the Vajpayee-Advani government," he added.
He said that the respect that Modi showed to the parliament by bowing on the steps is good, but he should have the same respect for people's problem. Communist stalwart said, "we saw Advani and Modi hugging each other and tears came from both of their eyes. Whether the tears are real or not is another question but the people are looking at all these activities. What I look for or communists like me look for is what are their policies for the people and how are they addressing their problems."
Commenting on whether the CPM general Secretary Prakash Karat and State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan should to resign he said, "All that will be decided when the party meets to discuss these issues."
Speaking about Rahul Gandhi's leadership, he said with a smirk, "they are trying to nurture and bring up a young leader, let him come up or grow up."
