New Delhi: The Parliamentary board of the Congress held a meet on Wednesday where the party released a document highlighting 10 years of its achievements. The achievements mentioned by the Congress include MNREGA, Food Security and security in Naxal areas.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the meet said that the Congress has never made promises that cannot be fulfilled. The PM said that the party has set the agenda for the next 20 years and has addressed complex issues.
While speaking at the event, Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed concerns over how Parliament is not being able to pass the Women Reservation Bill. She also underlined the need for more unity of purpose and discipline.
Sonia Gandhi also added that the party will go into the causes of Assembly poll debacle and asked partymen not to be disheartened.
Hitting out at the Opposition, Sonia said, "Our opponents advocate policies of divisiveness and sectarian interests. They mock our secular ethos. We must not be afraid to speak against those who offer only a narrow and destructive alternative."
