New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly on Friday passed the contentious Jan Lokpal Bill, the biggest poll promise made by the Aam Aadmi Party government.
This bill had caused quite a furore in the House last week after the Opposition alleged that the proposed bill is a diluted version of the 2014 version of the bill.
Expelled AAP leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav also held protests in the capital last week against the government's version of the bill.
Delhi government on Thursday approved two amendments in the appointment and removal clauses in the draft Jan lokpal legislation as suggested by veteran social activist Anna Hazare during his recent meeting with AAP leaders.
In his last tenure, Kejriwal had resigned after he had been prevented from tabling his pet Jan Lokpal bill in the Assembly on February 14, 2014 in the face of stiff opposition from both Congress and BJP.
Kejriwal had then accused the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party of joining hands to defeat the Bill.
