Digvijaya attacks BJP over snooping allegations
Taped conversations claimed that Amit Shah ordered police surveillance of a woman, allegedly on the orders of a certain 'saheb'.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party continues to face the heat over the Gujarat government snooping row with Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Friday saying that it is clear that the woman was surveiled at the behest of then Gujarat Home Minister and Chief Minister key aide Amit Shah.

He tweeted, "Snoopgate- done by Gujarat Police under instructions of Amit Shah Home Portfolio with Chief Minsiter. Clinching evidence in Singhal tapes. Any comments?"

He has also asked senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, whose call records were also accessed in a separate case to comment on the case. He tweeted, "Would Arun Jaitley sensitive to encroachment on privacy. Please advise/comment and not hide under the pretext of investigation by the accused ?"

Congress has slammed the committee constituted by the Gujarat government to probe this case saying that accused cannot probe themselves.

He said, "Snooping/phone tapping punishable by imprisonment under section 25, 24 of the Indian Telegraph Act read with section 66 and 72 of the IT Act."

Amit Shah has been accused of snooping on a young woman using state machinery in 2009 in Bangalore.

A Cobrapost-Gulail report claimed to have accessed taped conversations which are in the CBI's possession, which claimed that Amit Shah ordered police surveillance of a woman, allegedly on the orders of a certain 'saheb'.
