New Delhi: Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission has called a meeting of all recognised political parties for the conduct of free and fair elections on Tuesday.
With just nearly three months left for the crucial polls, the EC has convened the meeting to discuss election preparations.
The Election Commission had in January announced that the Lok Sabha elections will be held in five phases starting from mid-April.
The all-party meet on Tuesday comes a day ahead of the Budget Session, the last sitting of Parliament before the general elections.
Along with the Lok Sabha polls, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will go to polls to elect their new assemblies.
The term of the current Lok Sabha expires on June 1 and the new House has to be constituted by May 31.
An estimated 80 crore voters will be eligible to vote in the coming elections after new voters have been added to the rolls, whose final revision is underway.
