GHMC polls a litmus test for all parties, counting of votes at 3 PM
In all exit polls, TRS is sweeping the civic polls with clear majority. MIM is likely to get 35-40 seats, TDP-BJP alliance 25-30 seats and Congress to settle for less than 10 seats.

Hyderabad: For every political party in Hyderabad, winning Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election is not just a matter of prestige but also a litmus test after bifurcation of the state. The city witnessed extensive campaign by all parties but it seems ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi's strategy for GHMC elections has worked.

The counting of votes will begin at 3 PM on Friday due to repolling at Puranapul.

In all exit polls, TRS is sweeping the civic polls with clear majority. MIM is likely to get 35-40 seats, TDP-BJP alliance 25-30 seats and Congress to settle for less than 10 seats.

Telanagana IT Minister KT Rama Rao said, "We are confident that people have trust in us and voted for us."

In the last GHMC elections, Congress had over 50 corporators and shared power with MIM. However, this time the two parties are on opposite ends, fighting each other. The ruling TRS and MIM have a post poll alliance.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress President, said, "MIM opening rigged votes. The entire election process is farce. If it had to be like this then CM KCR should have announced winners on his own."

In 2014 Legislative Assembly election, TRS could secure only 2 out of the 24 seats. The TDP-BJP alliance had won 14 out of 24 assembly seats and BJP-TDP alliance had 50 corporators in the last council indicating their strong hold. However, Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide in Hyderabad Central University has tarnished BJP's image.
