Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday in an exclusive interview with CNN-News18, hailed the women of Sandeshkhali for coming forward and showing courage. The Prime Minister further highlighted his government’s focus on women empowerment and said, “Women reservation and empowerment is our key agenda and we are working towards it.”
“I bow down to women of Sandeshkhali. They did not get scared and exposed everything. They did not worry about the consequences,” PM Modi said, adding, “With women’s security in mind we have done so many things. We are working towards capital punishment for rapists.”

PM Modi on Women Empowerment
Highlighting his government’s focus on women empowerment, he said, “In my first speech from Lal Qila, I talked about the change that is needed in society towards women. Women in Bengal are feeling unsafe today, we are doing everything we can to make them feel safe and secure.”
Further launching an attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress, the Prime Minister said, “They (TMC) are not able to create a narrative. They are bankrupt of issues and that is why they resort to doing such things. Our government is working towards giving reservation to women, it is our key agenda.”
PM Modi on Muslim Quota
Lashing out at the Opposition for trying to divide the country on the basis of religion for their vote bank, Prime Minister Modi said that the matter of Muslim reservation was raised “intentionally” ahead of the elections in the country. He further added that now the Opposition has started abusing the judiciary for not allowing them to hamper the OBC reservation for their political gains.
“OBC matter is important. The Constituent Assembly decided that reservation should not be given on the basis of religion, but they gave quotas to Muslims in Karnataka. They through backdoor made Muslims OBCs and looted the rights of real OBCs. I am thankful to our judiciary for not allowing them to do so.”
“They have now started to abuse courts. This is not good for the nation,” he added.
