Hyderabad: Is the Congress high command in New Delhi planning to sack the defiant Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy before the year end? According to AP Congress sources the Chief Minister is on his way out. His continued opposition to Telangana and public statements not only embarrassed the high command, but also angered the Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijaya Singh is also unhappy with Kiran Kumar Reddy's inflexible nature. Kiran Kumar Reddy has been openly questioning the creation of Telangana and advocating united Andhra Pradesh.
He is even accused of stoking fire to two month long Seemandhra agitation, which lasted only in the second week of October. However he denies the reports that he is on his way out. Speaking to CNN-IBN earlier he had said "no post is permanent. What is CM's post before united Andhra Pradesh?"
According to his close circle, Reddy is ready to step down. "He does not want to go down as a betrayer. He wants to leave as someone, who has sacrificed his post for the unity of the state" a close aide said.
But, the Congress high command is in a fix. It does not want to make Kiran Kumar Reddy a martyr by sacking him. The defiant CM wants the high command to remove him, hoping that it will generate sympathy for him.
The AP CM is arriving in New Delhi on Friday. He will be meeting Digvijaya Singh and Sonia Gandhi. He is also participating in an all party meeting on Telangana scheduled for November 12 in New Delhi.
