Jammu: BJP revokes suspension of five rebel MLAs
The five MLAs were suspended from primary membership of the party for six years following cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections.

Srinagar: After bringing back its rebel leader, former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, into the party fold, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday revoked the suspension of five Jammu MLAs who had cross-voted in the Legislative Council election in April 2011.

MLAs Baldev Raj Sharma, Master Lal Chand, Durga Dass, Bharat Bhushan and Professor Gharu Ram Bhagat were re-introduced after they wrote to party president Rajnath Singh expressing their 'unconditional' desire to work for the party as per the BJP priorities and directives.

The five MLAs, along with two others - Professor Chaman Lal Gupta and Jagdish Sapolia - were suspended from primary membership of the party for six years following cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections, held on April 13, 2011.

While there is no official word on the fate of Professor Gupta and Sapolia, sources say that a section within the BJP has reservations over taking the duo back into the party.
