JD(S) to announce Karnataka Deputy CM on Nov 15
Deputy CM will be named after CM Yeddyurappa seeks vote of confidence.

New Delhi: The new regime in Karnataka has not yet decided who will be the JD(S) candidate for the Deputy CM’s post.

Talks were conducted on Sunday night among the senior JD(S) leaders, including former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, over selecting a Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate, but they proved inconclusive.

The selection has been deferred till beyond November 15, the day B S Yeddyurappa is expected to seek vote of confidence.

After the party’s legislature meet in Bangalore, it was decided that party MLAs would be present during the oath-taking ceremony of BJP’s CM designate Yeddyurappa on Monday.

However, none of the JD(S) MLAs will take oath and shall do so only after the confidence vote.

JD(S) Leader M P Prakash confirmed this, saying, “After the confidence vote on November 15, the 18 ministers in the new government will take oath and also, the Deputy CM will be announced.”

Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy, who was favoured by most of the legislators was strongly tipped to assume charge as Deputy Chief Minister, but he had earlier denied media reports to this

respect.

''All the senior party leaders and Legislators would attend

tomorrow's swearing-in ceremony but, we would name our Ministers only after November 15,'' he said.
