Patna: The JD (U) on Tuesday re-affirmed its commitment to Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan and asked alliance partner RJD to go to the people and tell them the truth about the allegations leveled against party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Party spokesman Neeraj Kumar said that the JD(U) was committed to 'Gathbandhan Dharm' and was aware of its limitations.
It had been expected that JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar would break his silence over CBI raids on Lalu at a party meeting on Tuesday.
CBI has also registered an FIR against deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav who has been accused of getting prime land in Patna against awarding tender for maintaining two IRCTC run Hotels to a private company when Lalu was railway minister.
Party spokesman Ajay Alok told the media that Nitish addressed party men and said that JD(U) would never compromise with zero tolerance policy against corruption. Members of party's state executives, district presidents and MPs were present in the meeting.
Party leadership decided to hold weekly meeting at district level to strengthen the organisation. State executive will meet every second month to deliberate the functioning of the government.
Neeraj said that the party would now focus on social evils as dowry and child marriage.
