New Delhi: The Department of Economic Affairs of the Finance Ministry will depose before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). This came a day after Joint Parliamentary Committee met on the loss due to the 2G scam and grilled CAG Vinod Rai.
Tuesday's deposition is regarding an internal note by the Finance Ministry on the 2G case with reference to the then finance minister P Chidambaram.
The note had not only given ammunition to the Opposition gunning for Home Minister P Chidambaram, but had also caused rift within the government with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and P Chidambaram at loggerheads.
The Congress President Sonia Gandhi had to later intervene to work out a truce.
