Kolkata: In the wake of allegations of biasness made by opposition parties against state CEO Sunil Gupta, the full bench of Election Commission led by CEC VS Sampath is in the city to examine the poll preparedness of the state.
Sampath along with other officials today had a meeting with state poll officials. On Sunday, CEC will meet the representatives of parties and will look into their complaints. After the meeting with parties, they are also scheduled to meet all returning officers and other election officials of the district.
In the evening the CEC is scheduled to attend a press conference and then leave for Delhi. The visit comes in the backdrop of serious allegations made by opposition Left and Congress against "politically biased" attitude of Sunil Gupta towards the ruling Trinamool Congress.
"We have come here for a complete review," Sampath said. Gupta, who is facing the allegation, said, "I don't know what others are saying."
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy said, "This Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal is going to be held in peaceful atmosphere."
