In another scathing remark by a political leader in the North vs South debate, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran allegedly said that Hindi speakers from North Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar migrate to Tamil Nadu to engage themselves in contruction work and cleaning of toilets.
The video clip in which the DMK MP can be seen taking a dig against the Hindi speakers was shared by BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala, who also questioned leaders from UP and Bihar in regard to their stand in the matter.
Taking to X, Poonawala said, “Once again an attempt to play the Divide and Rule card. First Rahul Gandhi insulted North Indian voters, then Revanth Reddy abused Bihar DNA. then DMK MP Senthil Kumar said “Gaumutra states”, now Dayanidhi Maran insults Hindi speakers and North Abusing Hindus / Sanatan, then playing divide and rule card is DNA of INDI.”
He further said, “Will Nitish Kumar , Tejaswi Yadav , Lalu Yadav, Congress, SP Akhilesh Yadav all pretend that this isn’t happening ? When will they take a stand?”
” #DMK MP #DayanidhiMaran says that individuals from #Bihar and #UP, who only learn Hindi, migrate to TN, engage in construction work, and perform tasks like cleaning roads and toilets,” he added.
As per reports quoted by Hindustan Times, the comment made by DMK’s Maran on Hindi was a comparison of people who learn English and who only learn Hindi. The DMK leader said that those who learn English get good jobs in IT, but those who learn only Hindi, like the ones from UP and Bihar clean roads and toilets. “This is what happens when one learns only Hindi,” Dayanidhi allegedly said in the clip that has gained attention on social media.
Few days back, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lost his cool during the INDI alliance meeting when representatives of southern ally DMK asked for a translation of his speech which was delivered in Hindi.
In another incident, DMK MP DNV Senthil Kumar, while participating in a discussion on Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill in the House, said the BJP can win elections only in the Hindi heartland states and not in South India.
